1. Purpose of Lottery
The purpose of this 50/50 lottery is to raise funds in support of BIANS programs and services for individuals and families affected by brain injury across Nova Scotia. Proceeds will support education, advocacy, peer support, recovery, and community-based programming.
2. Eligibility
Participation is open only to individuals 18 years of age or older
Ticket purchasers must be physically located in the Province of Nova Scotia at the time of purchase
Tickets are available for purchase online only
Tickets may not be sold or purchased outside of Nova Scotia
BIANS staff, board members, and active volunteers are not eligible to participate or purchase tickets
3. Ticket Sales Period
Ticket sales begin: June 1, 2026 at 9:00 AM AST
Ticket sales close: June 30, 2026 at 12:00 PM AST
No tickets will be sold, issued, or accepted after the closing time
4. Ticket Pricing
Tickets are available as follows:
1 ticket – $5
3 tickets – $10
10 tickets – $20
25 tickets – $40
All tickets provide an equal chance of winning.
5. Draw Details
Draw date: June 30, 2026
Draw time: 2:00 PM AST
Draw location: BIANS Office, 1658 Unit 290 Bedford Hwy, Bedford, Nova Scotia (NSH NeuroCommons)
The draw will take place publicly with a minimum of three (3) BIANS representatives present to ensure transparency and integrity.
6. Method of Draw
The winning ticket will be selected through a manual draw or approved selection process
The use of a Random Number Generator (RNG) is not permitted unless prior approval is granted by the Nova Scotia Alcohol and Gaming Division (AGD)
7. Prize Structure
This is a 50/50 draw
The winner will receive 50% of total gross ticket sales
The remaining 50% will be retained by BIANS to support programs and services
8. Winner Notification & Prize Claim
The winner will be contacted directly using the information provided at time of purchase
BIANS will make reasonable efforts to notify the winner within 24–48 hours of the draw
Prize may be issued via electronic funds transfer (e-transfer) or cheque, subject to verification and confirmation
Identification may be required prior to prize release
Winner may be publicly announced with consent
9. Financial Controls & Reporting
All ticket sales will be tracked and securely recorded
Full reconciliation of sales and prize payout will be completed following the draw
Records will be maintained in accordance with AGD requirements and BIANS financial policies
All proceeds will be used exclusively for approved charitable purposes
10. Compliance
BIANS will comply with all requirements of the Nova Scotia Alcohol and Gaming Division (AGD), including licensing conditions, reporting requirements, and audit standards.
11. General Conditions
Tickets are non-refundable
BIANS reserves the right to verify eligibility of participants
BIANS staff, board members, and volunteers are not permitted to participate in this lottery
Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with AGD regulations and BIANS governance policies
BIANS reserves the right to amend or cancel the lottery if required under regulatory direction
