878 Banff / Canmore Air Cadet Art Raffle Fundraiser
The Banff / Canmore 878 Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets is raising funds to purchase a new 15-passenger van to help with the transportation needs of the squadron. The Air Cadet program offers many rewards, including aviation skills, leadership, physical fitness, survival, and citizenship. In addition to this core training, cadets may also have the opportunity to participate in extra programs like band, drill team, marksmanship, effective (public) speaking, gliding, first-aid and more. The program is open to youth ages 12-18 and is FREE OF CHARGE to join and participate in the program.

The Whisper" is a notable nature photograph by Ken Hoehn, a renowned Canadian wildlife photographer based in Canmore, Alberta. 3rd prize: Edge of the Coulee, Western Landscape is a 1961 lithograph by the Canadian artist and academic George Swinton (1917–2002). retail value $150. Framed size 19”x 24”
George Swinton was a multifaceted figure in the Canadian art world, born in Vienna before emigrating to Canada in 1939. In 1954, he became a professor at the University of Manitoba and later at Carleton University. He is most famous for his pioneering research and books on Inuit sculpture, such as Sculpture of the Eskimo (1972). Swinton was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy and was appointed to the Order of Canada in 1980 for his contributions as a painter, critic, and promoter of Inuit art. His artworks are held in major institutions, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and the Vancouver Art Gallery.
