For nearly 30 years, RAPS has been helping animals and their people in BC. We operate the RAPS Cat Sanctuary – Canada’s largest! – an Adoption and Education Center, a fostering network, a chain for social enterprise thrift stores and the community-owned, nonprofit RAPS Animal Hospital.

We are a no-kill animal-serving organization. Under our care, no animal is ever euthanized due to lack of space, treatable illness, physical defect, age, behavioural or socialization issues.

The RAPS Cat Sanctuary is a flagship of the organization, home to hundreds of cats mostly unadoptable cats who might have faced euthanasia in other jurisdictions.

The Sanctuary provides a safe, forever home to feral, abandoned and surrendered cats, most of whom are unlikely to find a family home. The Sanctuary is at the heart of RAPS’ no-kill promise.

RAPS helps communities in BC control feral cat populations and we are one of the few facilities that welcomes animals with leukemia and FIV (“feline AIDS”). Cats with special needs receive the care they require and are enveloped in lifelong love and care.

The RAPS Cat Sanctuary provides people with disabilities, seniors, people living alone and the general public the opportunity to visit and interact the cats of the sanctuary, which provides them unconditional love and is highly therapeutic.
