The Iceberg Classic tournament began in 2015 as a joint venture between two families who love the game of 3 on 3 hockey. The main focus of the weekend is to create a fun social atmosphere for players and their friends and family.

In 2022, one of our tournament organizers, Jeff Gold, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Goldie lost his courageous battle in January 2023. If you were fortunate to know Jeff, you knew a kind, caring, and genuine man who had an energy that could not be matched. Jeff had a belly laugh that could make anyone smile and he was loved by many friends and family. He was a long-time coach and mentor to many young athletes over the years and he was the definition of a coach who sought to encourage players in their sport, teaching them to be a good person first and foremost. His presence at the tournament is greatly missed.

To honour Jeff’s courage and kindness, the Iceberg Classic tournament is partnering with the Medicine Hat Health Foundation to conduct a progressive 50/50 raffle for the running concurrently with the tournament. All proceeds raised will stay local and go to the Margery E Yuill Cancer Centre in the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital to support cancer patients in Medicine Hat and area.

Iceberg Classing 50/50 Rules 2026

1. Players must over 18 years of age to play. Tickets will be sold and advertised within the Province of Alberta; however, this does not exclude people coming into the province to purchase tickets. All tickets are sold by Visa or Mastercard.

2. Tickets will be available online and sold at a rate of:

• 1 for $10 – 60 packages available

• 4 for $20 – 470 packages available

• 20 for $50 – 200 packages available

3. Ticket sales will begin on Friday March 20, 2026, at 12:00pm and end on Sunday March 29, 2026, at 11:59pm the draw will take place on Monday March 30, 2026, at 11:00am. The winning ticket will be determined by Random Number Generator (RNG). Draw takes place at the Health Foundation office (666 5 St. SW, Medicine Hat) and is open to the public. In the event of a power failure, the draw will be conducted once the power is restored. If not restored within 5 hours, the draw will be rescheduled and advertised to the public and ticket purchasers.

4. The winner will receive a cash prize of 50% of ticket sales up to a maximum of $10,000.

5. All ticket numbers will be emailed to ticket purchasers by the registered Electronic Raffle Supplier (ERS) (Rafflebox). A physical ticket will not be mailed out for this draw.

6. The winner will be contacted by phone and email. The winner has 30 days to claim their prize, a second draw from the same numbers will occur after 30 days if the prize goes unclaimed

7. By playing, the ticket purchaser consents to having their name and/or photograph used in social media, marketing materials and publications to advertise the raffle and other charitable works of the Medicine Hat Health Foundation, and of the organizers of the Iceberg Classic 3 on 3 hockey tournament.
