The Iceberg Classic tournament began in 2015 as a joint venture between two families who love the game of 3 on 3 hockey.  The main focus of the weekend is to create a fun social atmosphere for players and their friends and family.
 
In 2022, one of our tournament organizers, Jeff Gold, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  Goldie lost his courageous battle in January 2023.  If you were fortunate to know Jeff, you knew a kind, caring, and genuine man who had an energy that could not be matched.  Jeff had a belly laugh that could make anyone smile and he was loved by many friends and family. He was a long-time coach and mentor to many young athletes over the years and he was the definition of a coach who sought to encourage players in their sport, teaching them to be a good person first and foremost.  His presence at the tournament is greatly missed.
 
To honour Jeff’s courage and kindness, the Iceberg Classic tournament is partnering with the Medicine Hat Health Foundation to conduct the first-ever progressive 50/50 raffle for the weekend of the tournament.  All proceeds raised will stay local and go to the Margery E Yuill Cancer Centre in the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital to support cancer patients in Medicine Hat and area.
