Every day 43 Albertans are told they have cancer.  The diagnosis is just the beginning of the cancer journey.  For many people in north and central Alberta, the next steps in the journey means travelling and staying in Edmonton while receiving treatments at the Cross Cancer Institute.

Twenty years ago, Sorrentino’s Compassion House opened its doors to women who make that journey.  We provide a well-appointed home away from home with private rooms with ensuite bathrooms, a modern communal kitchen, lots of areas for reading, watching TV or visiting, a gym, and transportation to and from the Cross Cancer Institute.  

As important and convenient as the amenities are, our guests tell us that a stay at Sorrentino’s Compassion House reduces their stress and anxiety and increases their sense of hope and connection.  The women who stay here have the space and support they need so they can focus on their healing.  

Events like the Walk Her Way 5k raise funds to ensure that Sorrentino’s Compassion House remains affordable and accessible to women who need us.  Thank you for all you do for the women of Compassion House.
