As an open-door animal shelter, we see many animals arrive in poor physical condition, requiring emergent care and long-term support. Every year the CAHS sees countless animals with broken bones, severe injuries, skin diseases such as mange, infectious and contagious life-threatening diseases such as panleukopenia, parvovirus and distemper, which are most often fatal if not treated, and various other illness and traumatic injuries such as burns or lacerations. Many of these animals require emergent care and often longer-term support.

Each year our medical and animal care costs amount to well over $125,000 making this fundraiser critical to supporting those ever-increasing operational expenses.
