Together, we can turn the hottest beach into the safest beach. In 2022, 1,200 Canadians died of Melanoma, the deadliest type of skin cancer, compared to 460 from drowning; meaning the most dangerous part of going to the beach isn’t lurking below the water’s surface, it’s shining down from above.

Melanoma Canada, thinks it’s about time to throw some shade on skin cancer. Just like lifeguards have a tower that overlooks the water, our Burn Guard will be seated in a tower facing the beach. Lifeguard towers often have flags that warn swimmers about water conditions. So, we'll have flags with UV level to warn beachgoers about the likelihood of burning.
