The Epilepsy Association of The Maritimes (EAM) has been providing services and support more than 40 years for persons living with epilepsy, their families and their communities. Our mission is to provide education, resources and support ongoing research. With no core funding, we accomplish this through fundraising, membership, donations and small grants for programming.
We offer services including epilepsy awareness and seizure first aid education, resources, support, programming including art therapy, advocacy, service navigation, as well as scholarships and bursaries.
We recently changed our name from the Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia to the Epilepsy Association of the Maritimes to better reflect the three provinces we serve. Your support will result in a positive impact for those living with epilepsy, their family, friends and communities. For example, in 2019 we provided seizure awareness and seizure first aid education for 7,903 students and staff; 378 employers; provided advocacy for 127 adults, 97 parents of children with epilepsy and 46 seniors throughout the Maritime provinces. There is still so much work to do; people who need us to provide education and awareness to help eliminate stigma and reduce injuries during seizures. Your support will help us continue our important work and help make a difference in the lives of people living with epilepsy. Every ticket sold will be your way of making Epilepsy Awareness possible.
