The New Glasgow Farmers Market is the regional farmers market for Pictou County. It is a thriving hub of activity on Saturday mornings, serving as an accessible, welcoming, and inclusive gathering space. People come together weekly to shop for local food and goods and to socialize, re-connect, and create new connections.

The "Raise the Barn" project aims to not only provide our vendors with consistent access to a heated and secure space, but this initiative will improve community food security, support farmers by offering additional options to get their product to market and make local food and goods more accessible to our region through an expanded market. Additionally, it will compliment and enhance the existing Nourishing Communities food security program.

The Market acts as a small business incubator, supporting over 140 businesses annually. Through valuable partnerships and networks, vendors gain access to resources such as training, insurance discounts, and other supports to help grow their businesses. The proposed building will also reduce barriers for food producers by providing improved equipment access and offering other qualifying businesses access through our retail storefront. These enhancements will solidify the Market's place in the community landscape.
